Affirming, empowering & grounding therapy for you.
I’m here to help
I know firsthand how hard it is to be Black woman navigating racism, sexism, capitalism and white supremacy culture. These oppressive forces directly impact our mental health and can cause anxiety. You’re tired of feeling stressed, combatting your harsh inner critic and feeling this fear that if you’re not perfect everything will fall apart. Just know that you are not alone and therapy can be a vital resource to support you.
If you’re looking to connect with a therapist who gets it, I would love to connect with you. I have dedicated my career to mitigating the toxic impact of racism and discrimination by providing quality mental health care to young adults of color impacted by these struggles. I ground my work in social justice, taking into account how our social positions in society are rooted in systemic oppression, which influences our experiences, mental health and relationships.
My therapeutic approach
I have focused my clinical work in providing quality mental health care to young people of color experiencing anxiety, perfectionism and trauma. I am a trauma informed, anti-oppressive, relationally oriented, identity affirming therapist with an eclectic therapeutic style. I use many interventions to best support clients’ individual needs including cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and mindfulness techniques.
I believe that therapy works best when we have the opportunity to build a strong rapport based in trust and mutual positive regard. Therapy is a long term commitment and investment in yourself. As we work together, I will ask process oriented questions to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors with openness and curiosity. I will also provide you with new perspectives, helpful coping techniques and non judgemental validation.
In addition, I believe that healing doesn’t just happen in the mind. I encourage clients to connect with their bodies and breath to feel more grounded in the present moment. I use mindfulness and somatic based techniques to help with emotion regulation and calming.
